Water and Land Resources
Development
Under its Water and
land Resource Development programmeme, CARDS focuses on conservation
of water resources and efficient use of available water. The
programmeme has twin approach of reviving traditional methods in
tandem with modern technology. The financial resources for rainwater
harvesting are mobilized from the community to create ownership of
the programmeme, with grant-aid from external sources for resource
intensive, infrastructure heavy watershed programmemes.
Eco friendly farming practices such as organic farming,
vermin-composting, use of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides are
promoted through awareness, training and assured accessibility of
resources. Collection of Minor Forest Produce (MFP); cultivation of
medicinal herbs; floriculture; and sericulture have been promoted to
enhance the farm income. |
National Horticulture Mission (NHM)
CARDS
have been nominated as valued member of the Technical Support Group
by the State Executive Committee under State Horticulture
Development Society for execution of National Horticultural Mission
(NHM) in the state of Chhattisgarh.
The mission promotes
various kinds
of horticultural farm practices across Chhattisgarh in 8 blocks of
Bilaspur and Durg districts.
In the
first phase, with the budget allocation of 14 million INR, the NHM
was initiated in Chiklinala Clusture, Durg block. It covered 17 Nos.
of villages with 222 farmers and total areas under cultivation of
525 Ha. Main crop Mango-165 Ha, Intercrop (Floriculture) Marigold-60
Ha, (Aromatic Crop) Lemon Grass-100 Ha, Pacholi-100 Ha, Khas-100 Ha,
establishment of 222 vermi compost unit and 2 community tube well.

It is worth
mentioning that in Malod village yield of Lemon grass per acreage
has been declared as the best in the NHM with higher percentage of
Citronella oil contents after processing in distillation plant in
Jatakhara nursery.

In Kotmi Cluster,
Block Pendra, Distt. Bilaspur 7 Nos. of village were covered with
210 farmers and total area under cultivation of 200 Ha. Main Crop
Pacholi 200 Ha., establishment of 70 varmi composed unit and 1
community tubewell. It involved total budged of 63 lakhs.

In Dewarbhat
Cluster, Block Durg, Distt. Durg 9 Nos. of village were covered with
235 farmers and total area under cultivation of 300 Ha. Main Crop
Mango 150 Ha., Intercrop (aromatic) Aloevera 150 Ha, establishment
of 200 vermi composet unit and 80 community tubewell. It involved
total budged of 190 lakhs.

In Girvar
Cluster, Block Pendra, Distt. Bilaspur 8 Nos. of village were
covered with 157 farmers and total area under cultivation of 109.39
Ha. Main Crop Mango 109.39 Ha., Intercrop (aromatic) Lemon Gras
82.57 Ha, establishment of 156 varmi composed unit and 1 community
tubewell. It involved total budged of 26 lakhs.

Cluster, Block Marvahi, Distt. Bilaspur 6 Nos. of village were
covered with 172 farmers and total area under cultivation of 275 Ha.
Main Crop Mango 125 Ha., Intercrop (aromatic) Lamongrass 25 Ha,
Pamarosa 125 Ha, establishment of 100 vermi composet unit and 10
community tubewell. It involved total budged of 57 lakhs.

Cluster, Block Pendra, Distt. Bilaspur 9 Nos. of village were
covered with 231 farmers and total area under cultivation of 250 Ha.
Main Crop Mango 125 Ha., Intercrop (aromatic) Pamarosa 125 Ha,
establishment of 100 vermi composet unit and 3 community tubewell.
It involved total budged of 107 lakhs.

In Kudkai
Cluster, Block Pendra, Distt. Bilaspur 8 Nos. of village were
covered with 208 farmers and total area under cultivation of 250 Ha.
Main Crop Mango 125 Ha., Intercrop (aromatic) Pamarosa 125 Ha,
establishment of 100 vermi composet unit and 2 community tubewell.
It involved total budged of 99 lakhs.

community tubewell. It involved total budged of 466 lakhs.

were covered with 144 farmers and total area under cultivation of
200 Ha. Main Crop Mango 100 Ha., Intercrop (Spice) Ginger 100 Ha,
establishment of 100 vermi composet unit. It involved total budged
of 323 lakhs.

In Andi Cluster, Block Marvahi, Distt. Bilaspur 4 Nos. of village
were covered with 260 farmers and total area under cultivation of
100 Ha. Main Crop Mango 100 Ha., Intercrop (Spice) Ginger/Chilly 100
Ha, establishment of 100 vermi composet unit and 52 community
tubewell. It involved total budged of 583 lakhs.

In Pipariya Cluster, Block Marvahi, Distt. Bilaspur 5 Nos. of
village were covered with 132 farmers and total area under
cultivation of 100 Ha. Main Crop Mango 100 Ha., Intercrop (Spice)
Ginger/Chilly 100 Ha, establishment of 100 vermi composet unit and
22 community tubewell. It involved total budged of 220 lakhs.

In Dhanpur Cluster, Block Marvahi, Distt. Bilaspur 4 Nos. of village
were covered with 213 farmers and total area under cultivation of
100 Ha. Main Crop Mango 100 Ha., Intercrop (Spice) Ginger/Chilly 100
Ha, establishment of 100 vermi composet unit and 42 community
tubewell. It involved total budged of 483 lakhs.

village were covered with 137 farmers and total area under
cultivation of 100 Ha. Main Crop Mango 100 Ha., Intercrop (Spice)

26 community tubewell. It involved total budged of 323 lakhs.

Looking at our previous performance in current financial year
2008-09 further three new districts and eleven blocks have been
allotted for cluster formation viz block Tilda and Simga in Raipur
district,block Rajnandgaon and Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon
district,block Pusor, Kharsia,Gharghoda,Tamnar and Dharamjaigarh in
Raigarh district,Block Berla and Dhamda in Durg district.

Livelihood

In the area of livelihood Bamboo craft work is going in pondi, pondi
khurd, ambikapur block and Aamgoan in Lundra block of distt.
Ambikapur with the assistence from GOI Ministry of Textile, O/o
Development Commissioner (Handircrafts). It includes different
phases of I basline servey, II mobilisatin for formation of 10 SHG
of 100 artisan (Intital stage), III training schemes, technological
design workshop, exibition, IV integrated design wrokshop,
printmedia and web side development, craft bazar and CFC (Common
Facility Centre).

Skill development programmeme under National Banboo Mission
programmeme of NABARD by essecution in the area of village Andi and
Kotmi, block Pendra, Bilaspur distt. It included 30 number of
beneficiry including women for skilled training for two month.
People derectly learned the know how of bamboo craft, other linkages
and primary interpreneurial skill about it.

Tribal Development
|
Tribal development through livelihood development programmemes
including development of orchards have been implemented in. Pendra,
Gowrela, Marvahi Block of Bilaspur District. |
Empowerment of Women
|
Women play a major role in managing the family, earning livelihood
and grooming the future generation. Women empowerment has been
initiated through drudgery reduction, gender sensitisation and
capacity building. Activities like safe drinking water, primary
health care, hygiene and sanitation and skill-oriented training are
being promoted. Gender sensitisation is being initiated to ensure
that women are treated well and given equal opportunities to get
their due status in society. Subsequently, they are encouraged to
form Self Help Groups to come up with individual and group
enterprises to generate income opportunities apart from contributing
to their own agriculture and livestock husbandry. |
Community Health

The goal is to improve the health status of the rural families
through promotion of safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation
facilities, recycling of wastes, nutritious diet, immunisation,
mother and child health care, family welfare and health education.
Preventive care and first level curative care are ensured through
research, motivation and training of traditional midwives, local
field functionaries and health guides. The use of traditional
health practices, with home grown herbs is also being popularised.

As F-NGO of M-NGO under NRHM for implementing the RCH – II at
unserved and underserved area of charama block, Kanker Distt.
Covering 2 tribal health sub centre and 6 tribal villages, with
intervention of modern medical facility, IMR, MMR, RTI, STI rate and
pramotion of ANC, institutional facility for tribal women and
complete immunization for childrens.

As implementing agency for community based monitaring (CBM) under
NRHM started on pilot basis in the state of Chhattisgarh in
Kabirdham Distt. The project covers 75 village with 15 sub centre
and 3 PHC (Primary Health Centre). It involve capacity building of
community people toward why & Hoy community based monitoring
mechanism.

Capacity building and strengthing of woman SHG with assustance from
World Vision (India) in the block Rajnandgown, Rajnandgaon distt.
Covering 6 backward villages of Surgi, Mohba, Bhuchibharda, Basula,
Mudpar, Parrikhurd, and impanting them skill based training for
income generation like aggarbatti making, Papad Badi, Achar,
Stitching & embsoidey, EAC (Enterprenurship Awareness Camp) for
better understanding of estrepreseural skills, forward and backward
linkages.

Labour education programmeme with assistance from central based for
workers education, Nagpur for importing legal awarness,
entrepreneurship awarness of finding solutions for their problems.
Programmeme executed in the village of Utai, Bhilai, Durg Distt.

Bass line survey conducted in the area Mainpur block of Raipur distt.
It covered 24 village under total sanitation campaign for the deptt.
Of public Health Engineering, Govt. Of Chhattisgarh.

Door to door databased household survey of about 1.25 lakh families
& filling up of DISE data format provided by RGSM (Rajiv Gandhi
Shkisha Mission) through MP MAA Raipur for the Koriya, Sarguja,
Jaspur, Raigar, Janjgir, Champa and Raipur distt. Of CG. It would
reselt in tracking very child in 0-14 age group, dropouts future
schuld going children, unregognised school, state of parent
migration etc.

Future Plan

Linkage of traditional knowledge with climate change:
- India agriculture is completely depend on monsoon and due to the
changing face of climatic condition due to different internal and
external factors the largest employment giving sector is under
pressure which is leading to large scale migration and other social
deviants. CARDS as organization is looking forward to club both
available traditional knowledge and present scientific predictions
to prepare a full proof knowledge center which can predict for
coming agriculture season.

Alternative Energy:
CARDS is looking in great potential in gasifier based energy source
at village level, which will not only increase the energy
sustainability of the community but also add food for there
livestock because of supporting plantation for gasifier project.
This kind of project will produce green energy at very low cost in
all weather throughout the year. Solar Energy/Bio gas plants are
other concept on which as a organization CARDS is looking very
seriously. By Solar Energy CARDS is planning to target population
for the use of solar energy to use as a module to cut the
electricity bill which will indirectly lead to power saving.

NGO-Corporate partnership:
CARDS is looking forward to build a strong NGO-Corporate in the
field of education, health & environment. CARDS will provide
different social platform by identifying communities and resources
(like schools, PHCs, Village Knowledge Centers, etc. ) to be
upgraded. CARDS will provide technical and consultancy support in
the binging and then completely handover the project to corporate
partners.

Daily Carbon footprint: CARDS
will calculate daily carbon footprint of different organizations
like govt. offices, schools, hospitals, business complex and
industrial complex and will try lysine with the organizations to
reduce the daily power consumption.
